As part of the Culture 2014 Commonwealth Games, Cryptic partnered with Glasgow Science Centre and the Royal Navy to create a night-time nautical extravaganza on the River Clyde.
Sound to Sea featured over 140 performers, live music, aerial dance, fireworks and spectacular visuals on the dynamic and inspiring waters of the Clyde’s Canting Basin. Boats and ships doubled as stages embracing a diverse range of musical styles, spanning the genres of folk, rock, traditional, techno, bhangra-pop, classical, opera and choral.
Sound to Sea was exciting and accessible with over 14,500 experiencing the event. This unique water based performance transformed and regenerated Govan and encouraged a sense of place and a shared feeling of pride in the prosperous global history we have gained from nautical engineering, research and innovation.
“Bonkers and memorable… a fitting show to mark Cryptic’s 20th anniversary.” ★ ★ ★ ★ The Scotsman
