Creating a COVID secure environment

We want you to feel as safe and comfortable as possible when you come to Cryptic Nights and working in partnership with CCA, there are a number of measures in place to ensure the health, safety and most importantly, enjoyment, of our events for all staff and visitors.

Please do not travel to or attend Cryptic Nights if you have: a fever or symptoms of respiratory infection (cough, sore throat, shortness of breath); have returned from overseas or have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

Information on self-monitoring for symptoms, safe travel and up-to-date Public Health Advice is available here, along with all current COVID-19 protection levels in Scotland here.

Ahead of the event…

Do I have to book tickets?

Yes, D Ý R A is a free but ticketed event with limited capacity. Bookings are restricted to six people from three households every hour between 11.00 – 17.00 on Fri 2 & Sat 3 July and the experience lasts 40mins.

Tickets can be booked here or by calling: 0141 352 4900 between 11.00 – 18.00, Tue – Sun. In person booking is also available at CCA box office during these times, but we would encourage you to use online and telephone booking where possible.

Do I have to book in advance?

You are encouraged to book in advance and whilst there may be some availability on the day, entry is not guaranteed, and we do not want you to be disappointed.

Will I have to leave contact details for contact tracing?

At the point of booking an installation slot for D Ý R A, CCA will record your contact details to facilitate the Test & Protect scheme, in line with Scottish Government guidance. This means that you will be contacted if anyone who has visited CCA on the same day tests positive for COVID-19.

CCA will erase all data recorded within 21 days, in line with the Scottish Government’s track and trace policy. This data is not shared with Cryptic.

What happens if D Ý R A needs to be cancelled due to local lockdown restrictions?

Cryptic and CCA reserves the right to stop this installation and the right to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of this happening, a public announcement will be made at the earliest possible opportunity. We ask that all audience members check their emails, the event page on the Cryptic and CCA websites, and / or social media before visiting.

At the event…

Will I need to wear a face covering in the building?

Yes please unless you are exempt. If you need a face covering, CCA have masks available at box office for a suggested £1 donation.

Cryptic, CCA, cafe and shop staff will also be wearing face coverings in public areas and when moving around the building. If you are eating and drinking in the cafe, please put your mask on when entering, leaving and using the toilets.

Will there be hand sanitiser available?

Yes, CCA have located hand sanitiser at the entrance in the foyer as you enter from Sauchiehall Street and at clearly signed sites throughout the building. Some of these stations are foot-operated pumps, but there are also accessible low-level sanitiser stations. We encourage you to use these as much as you can.

Is there anything else I need to do?

We invite all visitors to observe two metre social distancing where possible.

D Ý R A is taking place in the theatre and please exercise caution when entering or exiting the space and give other visitors space and time to move through the doorways and front of house passageways.

CCA have installed floor markings and signage to help you keep your distance. Please catch coughs and sneezes in a tissue and dispose of any tissues into the bin then wash or sanitise hands immediately.

Please note that some people may find COVID-19 safety measures more difficult to adhere to, including those with sight loss, autism, learning disabilities, dementia, or other communication or mobility needs.

Are toilets going to be open?

CCA’s toilets will be open and available for everyone to use. Capacity is reduced in some of the toilets in order to maintain social distancing and CCA have introduced additional regular cleaning throughout the day.

Can I use the lift?

The theatre is located on the first floor of CCA and the lift is available for those who need to use it. We encourage those who do not need to use the lift to take the stairs instead. The lift should only be used by one household group or social bubble at a time, or one visitor with access requirements and their companion. If the lift is used, the buttons and handrail should be cleaned after use with the wipes provided and hands should be sanitised before entering.

How do I enter the theatre?

We will be operating a one-way system for D Ý R A and entry to the theatre will be via the corridor to the left of the stairs on the first floor. Friendly front of house stewards will be on hand to guide you and offer assistance if required.

Signage and visual aids will also be in place and to minimise contact as much as possible, we will not be distributing printed programmes. Instead, they will be available as digital, downloads on the Cryptic website from Tue 29 June and on arrival at CCA.

What happens when I am inside the theatre?

You will be directed towards the installation in the centre of the room. It is a large, sheeted structure which you can enter safely and once inside you will be asked to lie down, on socially distanced yoga mats to experience the work. These mats, the floor and all touch points will be cleaned in between viewings.

How do I exit the theatre?

You will be directed to leave via the door at the opposite end of the theatre from where you entered. This will take you back out onto the first floor and from there you can walk to the toilets, lift or down the stairs to the foyer and exit back onto Sauchiehall Street.
