Sonia Killmann is a Glasgow-based saxophonist, electronic musician, and audiovisual artist whose work is shaped by interdisciplinary collaboration and experimental approaches to sound and visuals.

They explore the relationship between sound and environment, drawing inspiration from Pauline Oliveros’ concepts of collective listening and sonic meditation.
As a Cryptic Artist, Killmann primarily works as an electronic and multimedia composer, creating immersive experiences for audiences. Their practice is rooted in jazz music and improvisation, forming the foundation for their live audiovisual performances, sound art and composition work.
They have played in venues across Europe, such as Sonica Festival (Glasgow), GAS Festival (Gothenburg), Construction Festival (Dnipro), Multiplica (Luxembourg) and Sameheads Club (Berlin).
In 2025, Killmann is participating in the Queer Jazz residency and will perform in London alongside Matters Unknown. In 2024, they also attended the Electronic Music Studios (EMS) in Stockholm to record and learn about rare modular synthesiser systems.
Last year, they collaborated with immersive artist Laura Mannelli on Cryptic Commission Umweltraum((a)), an interactive multi-speaker installation which premiered at Sonica Glasgow 2024.
